Scammers are attempting to con Rogers customers with fake refund texts in wake of Friday’s nationwide outage

It all began when a software update to the routers on Rogers national network went awry in the early morning hours of Friday, July 8th and ended up taking down the entire system, leaving millions of Canadians without access to cellphone, home or business Internet, and also affected Interac terminals and other business services. Some Rogers customers still had not had their service restored fully as of Sunday, or were experiencing spotty service.

And now scammers are using this mess as a means to try and profit, by sending fake refund offer texts to Rogers customers, hoping they take the bait and click on the link. If you receive anything like this asking you to do something, DO NOT click the link.
